Record: 22-10

RPI: 30

BPI: 27

Conference: Mountain West Conference

How They Qualified: At-Large Berth

The San Diego State Aztecs are not ending the season with as much as hype as they started the year with, but either way this is a dangerous squad. Head coach Steve Fisher has transformed basketball at San Diego State and just two years removed from their first NCAA Tournament victories in school history, the Aztecs are now dancing for a fourth consecutive season.

A year ago, the Aztecs were a six seed within the bracket, but San Diego State was upset in the Round of 64. Let’s see if they can dish out a little revenge against someone early and make a run of things here in 2013.

What You Need to Know:

Leading Scorer: Jamaal Franklin (17.0 ppg)

Leading Rebounder: Jamaal Franklin (9.4 rpg)

Leading Passer: Jamaal Franklin (3.2 apg)

Bad Losses: Wyoming, Air Force

Good Wins: UCLA, New Mexico

As you can tell from the aforementioned statistics, Jamaal Franklin is this team’s overall catalyst. Franklin can do a little bit of everything, but he stuffs the stat sheet game in and game out, that’s simply become a guarantee. Franklin does have help in the back court however, as Xavier Thames and Chase Tapley have proven to be very efficient scorers, especially over the course of the past few weeks.

San Diego State has more than enough potential to be dangerous in this field if they can hit shots and rebound the basketball, so if they do, watch out.

The San Diego State Aztecs are dancing!
