The path to the Final Four will not be easy for the No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks, but I guess you could say that about every team in the NCAA Tournament.
Kansas will cruise to victory against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, but the second round won’t be as easy. The Jayhawks will either have to play Villanova or North Carolina. Just imagine the Tar Heels and Jayhawks going at it in just the second round of the dance. Sure, Kansas is a much better team this year than North Carolina, but from a historical standpoint, that would be awesome.
Villanova is also a great team that has beaten three top five teams this year–at the time, of course.
A matchup against VCU would also be very intriguing. The Rams upset the Jayhawks just a couple of year ago on their Cinderella run to the Final Four.
Florida, Georgetown and Michigan are also in South region. All three of those teams are easily capable of winning a national championship this season. All three of those teams were being looked at as No. 1 seeds at some point in the season.
Kansas will likely be the favorite to make the Final Four out of this region, but there are many teams that have a good shot to take down the Jayhawks in the South.
Whether the case, the Jayhawks were very deserving of a No. 1 seed, since they did win a share of the Big 12 title and won the conference tournament. That does not mean it will make it any easier for this team in the NCAA Tournament though.
