Time To See If Gonzaga Bulldogs Are Worthy of No. 1 Seed
The Gonzaga Bulldogs have an overall record of 31-2 entering the NCAA Tournament. However, some may argue that they did not play anyone this year and were not worthy of a No. 1 seed. Well, they are a No. 1 seed in the Big Dance and it is time to see if they are worthy of it.
Gonzaga’s best wins of the season came against Kansas State and Oklahoma State. They also beat good teams in Oklahoma, Baylor and Saint Mary’s (3x). From a resume standpoint, those are pretty good wins, but their weak conference schedule is the reason why everyone is questioning the Bulldogs.
The ‘Zags did not record a bad loss on the year, losing to Illinois and Butler, whom were both ranked at the time Gonzaga played them.
Gonzaga will get challenged in the second round, whether if it has to play Wichita State or Pittsburgh. Depending on how far they make it and how ever things play out in the bracket, Wisconsin, Kansas State, New Mexico, Ohio State and Arizona would all be tough opponents. Yes, the Bulldogs already beat K State, but the Wildcats really showed how good they were this season in Big 12 play and the rematch would be a much better contest.
The Bulldogs are a great team and made history this season by being ranked No. 1 for the first time in school history, but there are plenty of good teams out there that could knock them off. Whether the case, Gonzaga’s resume and play on the court speaks for itself and this team was definitely worthy of a No. 1 seed. Now it is time to show that worth in the dance.
