NCAA Tournament Star to Watch for is Belmont Bruins Guard Ian Clark

Outside of the upsets, the best part of the NCAA Tournament is the making of new stars. March Madness either gives a great player a chance or the proper platform to shine as brightly as humanly possible. In the past the tournament has given us plenty of players who were previously never heard of and made them into household names. Well, the Belmont Bruins have that type of player in Ian Clark.

This is not my first lovefest article on Clark, but maybe this time you will pay closer attention. Clark averages over 18 points per game and shoots a humorously efficient .54 percent from the floor. He also has the propensity to go absolutely bonkers in a game, as his season high 32 points outing indicates (He has gone over 30 three times this year).

Belmont plays their first tournament game against a solid Arizona Wildcats. However, this game has upset written all over it. It is not because Arizona isn’t better or not that good, but because Clark is that special of a player. If he were to go bananas in the game, which is more likely than not, the Bruins could be taking their first step towards being this year’s Cinderella.

The Bruins do not only rely on Clark. Kerron Johnson is another capable player who showed off his ability to be clutch in the OVC Tournament. Between these two guards, Belmont might the toughest out of any of the lower (As in, 10 seed or up) as there is in the big dance.
