2013 NCAA Tournament Preview: No. 14 Davidson vs No. 3 Marquette
By the time the Davidson Wildcats meet up to play the Marquette Golden Eagles your heart will have jumped to your throat approximately 34 billion times. Even though your heart might not be able to take anymore NCAA Tournament heart-pounding action, this game is going to give your health a run for its money.
What to Watch For
Vander Blue has become one of the most under-appreciated players in the entire nation. Because of hype surrounding him out of high school, Blue was expected to be the next coming of the most awesome basketball player ever. While he hasn’t become a video game version of himself, he has become a very good scorer. And if the NCAA Tournament has taught us anything, it is that players like Blue will either thrive or dive under the tournament spotlight.
Davidson is going to rely on a much more balanced form of attack than Marquette. The Wildcats were in this position last year when they had to face another Big East team, the Louisville Cardinals. Expect Davidson to come out unafraid and ready to compete. However, all their role players will need to do their jobs to near perfection for them to have a realistic shot at the upset.
This game is going to be closer than one would think. Davidson returns a slew of guys who took Louisville to the brink last season.
Marquette 74 Davidson 69
