2013 NCAA Tournament Preview: No. 10 Cincinnati vs No. 7 Creighton
There is no way the NCAA Tournament has fulfilled all your March Madness hunger by now. You (like myself) are a greedy people who want more upsets and more tournament nonsense all the time. The game between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Creighton Bluejays will be a nice way to help stuff your tummy in the later parts of the afternoon.
The two teams have been trending in different directions, so it will be interesting to see if Creighton can ride their momentum or if the Bearcats are ready to be the team they were in December.
What to Watch For
Doug McDermott, obviously. Creighton relies on Doug E. Fresh for nearly everything. Not only will the Bluejays need McDermott to have a 25 plus point performance, but the Bearcats are going to be looking to shut him down. It is going to be a battle of coaching wits while both teams try manipulate McDermott into having the game they want him to have.
The Bearcats have a stud player of their own, Sean Kilpatrick. The junior will need to get his offensive game going early and not let his team fall into a play from behind mode. While the Bearcats might have better overall talent, McDermott is the best player on the court. If Kilpatrick can play good enough on offense to void whatever McDermott is doing, Cincy should be okay.
Every single bone in my body is telling me that the Bearcats are a better team, but it is players like McDermott that make the tournament special by helping their team advance by going bonkers.
Cincinnati 67 Creighton 66
