2013 NCAA Tournament Preview: No. 10 Colorado vs No. 7 Illinois
By the time the Colorado Buffaloes and the Illinois Fighting Illini game tips off you will be a card carrying member of the “I called off two days of work to watch the NCAA Tournament” club. While a very prestigious club, it does have its detractors–such as your boss–but it subjects you to games where you almost wish you were still in your cubicle overhearing your neighbor talk about the complete process of pickling cucumbers.
What to Watch For
Brandon Paul is going to have to continue to become a star. While not a shiny star yet, Paul has been showing people he is one of the better players that no one is paying attention to, especially as of late. If Illinois wants to survive it will be up to Paul to advance the ball from his hands and into the basket.
Colorado also has a player who has been hot as of late, Spencer Dinwiddie. The sophomore is averaging just under 16 points per in his last four games. If Colorado wants to win it will be a direct result of how Dinwiddie plays. This game is going to be a battle of two potential tournament breakout stars. So, okay, no need to listen to your cubicle neighbor.
This is a pretty tough game to decipher. Illinois almost plays a mid-major brand of basketball and really relies on the deep-ball. To pick Illinois would be to assume they were making shots from behind the arc on the regular.
Colorado 66 Illinois 70
