The No. 2 Duke Blue Devils were the first game of the day and they beat No. 15 Albany as expected. However, they did not win by as many as people thought they were going to win by, but a win is a win and Duke will definitely take it, especially since the major upset they had against them last season.

By beating No. 10 Cincinnati, the No. 7 Creighton Bluejays are moving on and will be playing Duke in the third round.

Both teams had some very high scorers, but everyone could have guessed that.

What to Watch For

Going off of the last sentence, Creighton’s Doug McDermott came up huge against Cincinnati, with 27 points and 11 rebounds. McDermott is the highest scorer in the NCAA Tournament and the Bluejays will be counting on him to have another huge game against the Blue Devils.

As for Duke, Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry both had great games, combining for 49 points in the second round. It will be interesting to see who scores more in the third round. Will it be McDermott, Curry or Plumlee? Whether the case, Creighton needs McDermott to score a lot, while Duke has plenty of talent on the offensive side of the ball.

Duke could very well be the best team in the tournament. Its three senior leaders have been great all season long and they will likely come up big once again against the Bluejays. Creighton just doesn’t have enough fire power outside of McDermott to keep up with Duke.

Duke 80 Creighton 72
