2013 NCAA Tournament: Atlantic 10 Teams Have A Horrible Day
The Atlantic 10 Conference may have been 6-0 coming into today’s games, but every single A 10 team lost today.
The No. 6 Butler Bulldogs were the latest team in this conference to go down, losing to the No. 3 Marquette Golden Eagles by two points. The Bulldogs had a shot at the end to tie the game or possibly win it, but could not convert.
No. 5 VCU got hammered against the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines. The Rams were coming off of an 88-point performance and could only manage 53 points against Michigan’s stingy D.
The No. 4 Saint Louis Billikens also went down, but they were upset by a No. 12 seed in the Oregon Ducks. Saint Louis lost by 17 points, so you can say that they were definitely off today.
Butler was the only one out of these three that even competed today. However, it does not matter because they will all be packing their bags. Despite the three losses, this conference had one heck of a year and should not be disappointed whatsoever.
Out of the A 10, No. 9 Temple and No. 13 La Salle are the only teams left in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. However, Temple will face the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers, so another loss for the Atlantic 10 is likely. The Hoosiers are arguably the best team in the Big Dance, even though they did not receive the No. 1 overall seed.
As for the Explorers, they will play another possible Cinderella team in the No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels. The winner of that game will have Cinderella written all over them.
The Atlantic 10 may have started off the tournament hot, but they are as cold as it gets after an 0-3 day in the third round.
