2013 NCAA Tournament: Miami (FL) Could be on Upset Alert Tonight

Bradley Leeb-USA Today Sports

With the way this NCAA tournament has gone, every single team is on upset alert.  No. 7 Illinois will take on No. 2 Miami (FL) with the hope that they will continue the madness that has already occurred.

Miami’s talent and experience will make it hard for any team to knock them out of the tournament, but Illinois does what every underdog needs to do well and that is make 3-pointers.  The only problem for them is, Miami can knock down threes at just as high of a rate.

Illinois only shoots 33% from behind the arc, but they keep on chucking them up.  If you keep on shooting, you are going to make some and some nights you aren’t going to miss many.

With Brandon Paul leading this team, they can beat anyone.  Paul is one of the best players in the nation and is an explosive guard.  His 16.6 points per game leads the team and he needs to put up more than his average tonight if they want to win.

Everyone on the Illinois team can shoot from the outside; even center, Tyler Griffey.  In fact, Griffey is one of their best three-point shooters and when Reggie Johnson is matched up on him, he needs to exploit Johnson’s inability to get out on shooters.

It will be a match-up with great athletes on both sides.  Shane Larkin, Durand Scott, and Kenny Kadji are all explosive athletes that can really play the game of basketball.  Paul, D.J. Richardson, and Tracy Abrams are great athletes for the Fighting Illini.

In a match-up of outside shooters and athletes, any team can win and that is why the Illini have a good shot of upsetting the Hurricanes.
