2013 NCAA Tournament Preview: No. 3 Florida vs. No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast

The No. 3 Florida Gators will be taking on the No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles in the Sweet 16. No big deal, considering that a No. 15 seed has never made the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

Florida was predicted to make it this far and has been pretty dominant on both sides of the court. The Gators have a very well-rounded team and can play with anyone in the nation. They are also great from behind the arc, which is always a huge plus in the Big Dance.

As for the Eagles, let me just say wow. This is a team that beat the No. 2 Georgetown Hoyas in the second round. That was easily the biggest upset of the tournament, but Florida Gulf Coast did not stop there. The team then beat the No. 7 San Diego State Aztecs in convincing fashion.

What to Watch For

Other than the fact that there is a No. 15 seed in the Sweet 16, Florida Gulf Coast has two players that have been great in Bernard Thompson and Sherwood Brown. Florida is going to have its hand full with both of these players, but the Gators have some pretty good scorers as well.

Mike Rosario went off in the third round with 25 points, but Erik Murphy has been great the entire tournament. The Gators score in bunches, whether if it is Rosario, Murphy or Kenny Boynton.

The Eagles have been a great Cinderella story, but the Gators will make their third straight Elite Eight. Florida is good enough to win a national championship this year and the team is probably tired of losing in the Elite Eight. This is a hungry Florida team, but Florida Gulf Coast has been the talk of the tournament and it would really be something if they could make the Elite Eight.
