2013 NCAA Tournament: Upsets In the Round of 32 Thus Far

Although there were not a whole lot of upsets today, there were two that will definitely crumble many people’s brackets.

One of those upsets was No. 12 Oregon beating No. 4 Saint Louis. Not only was that game an upset, it was a good old-fashioned booty whoppin’. The Ducks came out on top by 17 points. Apparently Oregon is still mad about receiving such a bad seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

Oregon has had two great games so far. In the second round, the Ducks beat the No. 5 Oklahoma State Cowboys by 13 points. Not bad for a No. 12 seed. The Ducks will play the No. 1 overall seed in the Louisville Cardinals. However, Oregon is not the typical 12-seed. This is a team that has many great wins on the year and even won the Pac-12 tournament.

Alright now on to the major upset of the day. The No. 1 Gonzaga Bulldogs went down to the No. 9 Wichita State Shockers. The Bulldogs are the first No. 1 team to go down in the Big Dance this year. This is the game that likely killed brackets everywhere, but it was a great one to watch.

Wichita State used 14 threes to take down the Bulldogs. Next up, the Shockers will take on the winner between No. 12 Ole Miss and No. 13 La Salle, which means there is going to be a Cinderella making it to the Elite Eight this year. After tonight’s game, I am sure many people are rooting for that team to be the Shockers.

Well, the first batch of the third round game are in the books, so hopefully tomorrow’s games can be just as exciting as today’s. I am sure more upsets are on their way.
