No. 3 Michigan State Spartans‘ head coach Tom Izzo is the man when it comes to taking his team to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. However, can Izzo coach his team to yet another Final Four this year?

Michigan State has made five Final Fours since 2000. However, to make another run that far this year, the Spartans will have to make it past the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils in the Sweet 16. If Michigan State can come up with a victory in that game, it will then have to play the winner of the game between No. 1 Louisville and No. 12 Oregon.

Although Louisville will likely win against the Ducks, Oregon is good enough to pull off the upset. So basically, the Spartans will likely have to beat the No. 2 and No. 1 seed in the Midwest region just to make the Final Four. Duke and Louisville are clearly two of the best teams in the nation and it will not be an easy feat for Michigan State.

So far the Spartans have beaten No. 14 Valparaiso and No. 6 Memphis. Although both of those teams are pretty good, they are not the Duke Blue Devils or Louisville Cardinals.

Michigan State looked a little shaky against Valparaiso, but still was able to win by 11 points. Luckily, the Spartans looked much better against Memphis and was able to pull off the 22-point victory behind Gary Harris‘ 23 points.

The NCAA Tournament should be taken one game at a time, but if Tom Izzo can somehow get his team to the Final Four, his legacy will be that much better. This year will not be easy to pull that off though.
