2013 NCAA Tournament Keys for Upset: Oregon Ducks

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee shocked everyone when Greg Gumbel announced the Oregon Ducks as a 12 seed. That was despite many feeling they were not even on the bubble before winning the Pac 12 Conference Tournament. While a 12 seed is usually reserved for a bubble team, Oregon has clearly put away any misconceptions casual fans may have had of them. However, in their game against the Louisville Cardinals they will obviously be a pretty hefty underdog.

The Freshman needs to stay a Sensation

Hope everyone has finally jumped on the Damyean Dotson bandwagon by now. The freshman has most recently gone bonkers in a 23 point scoring outburst in the last round. Dotson is the real deal and needs to continue his ever-improving ways against Louisville. It will be a very interesting match-up of he against Peyton Siva. It will be experience vs random bursts of awesomeness as the two battle it out. That could very well be the determining factor in the outcome of the game.

Dominic Artis?

Yes, Artis. You can apply nearly everything above to this freshman as well. While Artis doesn’t get remotely the same amount of minutes as Dotson, he will have to be productive in whatever time he gets on the court. I would not be surprised if his minutes get drastically increased to help Dotson stay as fresh as he could be for the second half.

Play Like there is Nothing to Lose

Oregon has made it further than some expected. Even though most knew they did not deserve to be a 12 seed, I don’t know of many who had them as far as the Sweet 16. The Ducks should realize they are playing with house money and go for the jugular right out of the gate.

1-100 Chance of Upset

22- I think Oregon is really good and that the program has a bright future. I also think that Louisville’s present is a lot better than the Ducks.
