When it comes to March Madness, some of the best teams find ways to win games in the most bizarre ways possible. As for the Ohio State Buckeyes, they decided to advance to the Elite 8 nearly the same way they advanced to the Sweet 16 by hitting the game-winning three at the end of regulation.
The Buckeyes held on for the 73-70 win over Arizona thanks to LaQuinton Ross hitting the go-ahead three-point shot with two seconds left to play to help Ohio State advance to the Elite 8 for a matchup against Wichita State. At first, it seemed like Arizona was on their way to upsetting Ohio State, but the Buckeyes rallied in the second half and came through at the last second–just like they did against Iowa State in the Round of 32.
With all of the upsets that have been taking place in the West Region, it’s the Buckeyes that have managed to stay strong as the No. 2 seed and were quickly considered the favorites once Gonzaga went down. March is arguably one of the best sports months of the year thanks to the tournament and Ohio State finds themselves in the perfect position to represent the West Region in the Final Four.
However, their Elite 8 matchup against Wichita State certainly won’t be easy as the Shockers have emerged as one of the most dangerous teams in the tournament as a No. 9 seed. With the type of wins they’ve managed to pull off so far, there’s no reason why they can’t do the same to the Buckeyes–so Saturday’s game could be an intense one for college basketball fans to watch.
