2013 NCAA Tournament Elite 8 Preview: Michigan Wolverines vs Florida Gators
The NCAA Tournament is coming to an exciting close. There are becoming increasingly fewer and fewer teams still eligible to win the National Title and the Elite 8 portion of the program has finally been reached. It no longer matters how you got here, just that you advance. The Michigan Wolverines can thank magical shots and the Florida Gators curb-stomped Cinderella–now the two are ready to battle it out for a spot in the Final Four.
What to Watch For
Does Trey Burke still have magic left in those hands? Burke made an amazing shot from three states over that helped the Wolverines advance to the Elite 8. While the team features a bunch of other talent, it may be up to Burke to continue to become a star in the big dance. Up until their last win, Burke has had only a fair NCAA Tournament showing. The NPOY hopeful is going to have to be the player everyone knows he is and not the one who showed up in Michigan’s first tournament game that resulted in Burke only scoring six points.
Florida needs to put beating down Cinderella behind them. They might now be the most hated team in the tournament for sending Florida Gulf Coast home, but it doesn’t mean their job is done yet. Mike Rosario is a player that you should keep an eye on. The former volume-shooter turned transfer has reinvented himself as a great team player for the Gators. If Florida wants a spot in the Final Four, however, Rosario might have to revert back to shooting the ball in bunches.
I can feel the magic coming out of Burke’s body from thousands of miles away. I cannot and will not continue to bet against him.
