Photo of Louisville Cardinals Guard Kevin Ware Emerges Following Surgery Walking With Crutches
As exciting as the Elite 8 was to watch this weekend in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, the sports world received a bit of a scare when Kevin Hare of the Louisville Cardinals suffered a broken leg during Sunday’s game against the Duke Blue Devils in what may go down as one of the most gruesome injuries to ever see during a game. No player should ever have to go through the type of pain experienced by Hare on Sunday but on a positive note–he does appear to be doing well following surgery as seen in the photo above.
Despite the gruesome injury, it’s difficult not to get caught up in the emotions displayed by Ware’s teammates after the injury took place as the Cardinals came together as a strong unit and quickly took the Blue Devils out of the ball game. Early indications are it will take Ware an entire year to recover from the broken leg considering the bone was sticking out when the injury took place.
Still, they say there’s always a positive with a negative and to see Ware in the photo above is a great sign that he appears to be ready to begin his journey of a full recovery. Hopefully, this inspirational story of Louisville coming together will carry over into next weekend as they will be traveling to Atlanta with their eyes set on winning the National Championship in Ware’s honor.
