Rutgers Scarlet Knights Former Coach Mike Rice Should Have Been Gone A While Ago

Move over Bob Knight because there is a new sheriff in town and his name is Mike Rice and he use to coach for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights basketball team. That was before he thought pushing college players around and verbally abusing them was a good idea. Well, Rice was fired, but he should have been a long time ago.

If you have not seen the video yet on how Mike Rice treated his players on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, you are in for a treat. But not a good treat, the kind of treat that makes you sick to your stomach. The more you watch the video, the worse it gets.

Some methods may be extreme, but if they work so be it. However, in Rice’s case, his methods were way too extreme and did not work.

Rutgers may play in the Big East, but it does not necessarily compete in the conference, at least this year. The Scarlet Knights went 5-13 in conference play this season.

It is a good thing that this video went viral because it shows people how even college students are victims of verbal and physical abuse. That clearly is not a good thing, but when the abuser gets caught, there will no longer be victims.

Rice definitely needs to change his coaching methods, but who knows if he will even be offered a job again for what he did at Rutgers. In a side note, Rutgers went 15-16 on the season, so Rice’s coaching methods were not getting the job done regardless.
