2013 Final Four: Kevin Ware and His Father Share Emotional Moment

After everything that Kevin Ware and the No. 1 Louisville Cardinals have been through this week, there was no greater moment than Ware hugging his dad on the sidelines after the Cardinals had just beaten the No. 9 Wichita State Shockers to reach the national championship game.

In times like these, I am sure hugging your father–who you have not seen in a long time–is something to really be cherished. And Kevin Ware Sr. had to feel great after comforting his child who had just had a season-ending injury and likely one of the most emotional weeks of his life.

This is what sports is all about.

For a good portion of the game–at least in the second half–Louisville looked like they were not going to pull off the victory. At one point, this team was down by 12 points. Coming back from 12 points against a really tough defense is not the easiest thing to do, but the Cardinals managed to pull off the feat.

Louisville is now in the championship game and it is just one game away from winning it all for Ware. However, the Cardinals will have to take on a very good team in the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines.

I am sure it was not easy watching his team from the sidelines, but his team did manage to pull off the victory when all looked lost and Ware got to see his father at the end of the game. Ware hugging his father on the sidelines will go down as one of the best moments in sports. That is how special I am sure it was for Ware and his father and that is how special it looked for many people.
