Louisville Cardinals Sharpshooter Luke Hancock Adding Extra Awesomeness
The Louisville Cardinals found themselves in a hard fought battle with Cinderella in their Final Four game. The Wichita State Shockers did a great job of controlling the tempo for a large portion of the game. Then two things happened: Rick Pitino had his team pressing the Shockers all over the court which resulted in some turnovers and easy buckets. The other, well, Luke Hancock, had a game that etched him a nice little spot in Louisville lore.
By the time the game was over, the sharpshooter accumulated 20 points on 6-9 shooting and 3-5 from beyond the arc. Being that effecient not only helped take pressure off Peyton Siva and Russ Smith, but has thrust the name Hancock into the national spotlight.
Louisville is now off to the National Title game and Hancock’s exploits are going to be talked about in bunches leading up to the game. Expect a lot of “will Hancock have another signature moment on Monday night” type of stuff (Full credit. Joke via Twitter) There is no reason to think that Hancock won’t be an important factor in the title game.
On the season, Hancock only averages a shade over seven points per game. That doesn’t scream awesome. However, from time to time, Hancock does go bonkers and throws up some pretty staggering numbers. To be fair, he has only topped 20 points in a game twice.
Hancock adds the three-point shot to a team filled with slashers, a Russdiculous human and a leader who has a bad jumper of his own. All of these mixtures are working together to make a very good team and a very hard out on Monday night.
