Rick Pitino is a going to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Game in September. So whenever he talks gushingly about Peyton Siva, you know he thinks the kid is special. Siva is pretty much a direct extension of Pitino on the court, and has helped the Louisville Cardinals reach the National Championship game. The question heading into it, however, is if Siva will have a strong enough impact to help the Cards capture the title.

Not all things Siva-related are great. Best known for his Big East Conference Tournament of last year exploits, Siva does have a tendency to vanish from games. Not known for a great jumper to begin with, if Siva was not to get his offensive game going early, it could spell disaster for the Cards.

Siva does more than just score buckets. In fact, that is the least important facet of his game. Much more prevalent is his ability as a floor general and his overall control over the Louisville offense. As already stated early, where Pitino does not have access to coach his players, Siva does. He helps calm, reinforce, and propel all Pitino’s ideals on to Cardinals players on the court.

Louisville is going to need Siva to bring the best version of himself to the tonight’s game. The impact had by Siva, either good or bad, will be a key factor in who actually comes out of the game victorious. If Siva lives up to Pitino’s billing of him, however, expect the guard to have another clutch performance.
