On Wednesday afternoon, Indiana sophomore forward Cody Zeller will announce that he is leaving school early and will enter his name into the 2013 NBA Draft.
Zeller’s decision certainly comes as no surprise as he has been a conscious lottery pick ever since he first arrived in Bloomington. Cody, who is the younger brother of former North Carolina star Tyler Zeller and former Notre Dame forward Luke Zeller, will likely hear his name called within the top ten this upcoming June.
Zeller could have left Indiana a season ago with the potential to be a top five selection, but he made the decision to return to school. Now, while Zeller’s stock has dipped slightly here in 2013, his potential at the NBA level is still sky high. The 7-foot forward features a great arsenal of tools on the offensive end and loves to play physical in the post.
Zeller made the decision to return to Indiana this past season for a shot at a National Championship, but even despite earning a No. 1 seed within the NCAA Tournament, the Hoosiers were upset in the Sweet 16. In two seasons at Indiana, Zeller did not make it past that Sweet 16 round.
According to NBADraft.net, Zeller is predicted to be selected with the No. 8 overall pick. DraftExpress.com lists Zeller at No. 6 overall in their latest mock draft. His brother Tyler was selected with the 17th overall selection a year ago.
