Michigan Guard Trey Burke Declares For 2013 NBA Draft

After Michigan‘s magical run to the National Championship game in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, it seemed like only a matter of time before Trey Burke declared for the 2013 NBA Draft. Now, it looks like the Wolverines will have to adjust to life without their star guard for the 2013-14 season.

Burke is expected to make the announcement on Sunday and as crazy as it sounds–this seems like the right move for him. One of the main reasons why Burke decided to return for his sophomore season was to get his NBA draft stock up and it’s safe to say that’s exactly what happened after the type of season Michigan had.

At the beginning of the year, the Wolverines looked like one of the most dangerous teams in college basketball after they jumped out to a 16-0 start and even though they hit a bit of inconsistency in the middle of the year–they got hot at the right time once the tournament rolled around as they fell just short of winning the National Championship.

There’s no question Michigan wouldn’t have been as good this season without Burke in the lineup and he appears to have a bright future ahead of him at the NBA level. With the way things went this past year, there are plenty of lottery teams that will be looking for a solid guard like Burke–so don’t be surprised if he draws interest from numerous teams once June rolls around.
