St. John’s Red Storm Guard D’Angelo Harrison Wins Random Award
It is a good time to be a St. John’s Red Storm fan. It looks like no player of significance is going anywhere (sorry, Amir Garrett is not that significant), they just signed Rysheed Jordan, and Steve Lavin looks to be completely healthy. That means that future is so bright for the Red Storm that many predict a monumental turnaround next season.
Still, this past season has some lingering memories. Some ill-informed folks are talking about Lavin being on the hot-seat (let us get this straight: there is a zero percent chance that Lavin is even on the mildly-warm seat) and the D’Angelo Harrion season-long fiasco still gets brought up here and there.
However, there is a reason why Harrison is widely considered the Johnnies’ best player despite his sometimes bad behavior. The guard can score from nearly anywhere on the court and has helped carry the Red Storm to victories in the past. Now, it seems like Harrison is getting the first good news he has had in awhile.
Harrison has been named a first-team member of the All-Metropolitan team. The only puzzling part of his selection was the fact that he missed a few games due to some issues with Lavin, team rules and etc. Usually, folks who select these kind of things are pretty hesitant to select a player who is perceived as troubled in the past.
It looks as if those people decided that Harrison’s talent was so overwhelming that keeping him off the team would be a great disservice to the legitimacy of it all.
