South Alabama Makes Great Coaching Hire With Former Butler Guard Ronald Nored
On Tuesday, the South Alabama Jaguars announced that newly appointed head coach Matthew Graves has hired former Butler Bulldogs guard Ronald Nored as an assistant.
Nored, a 6-foot guard and native of Alabama, played on both of the Bulldogs’ Final Four squads in 2010 and 2011. During his time as a player at Butler, Graves was an assistant under Brad Stevens. Graves had spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Butler before being elevated to associate head coach in 2010 where he had held that same position until being hired at South Alabama just last month.
Nored entered the coaching world shortly after concluding his playing career at Butler, taking over the high school varsity program at Brownsburg H.S. (IN).
“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join Coach Graves’ staff,” Nored said in a statement released by South Alabama. “In the four years I played for him I saw his unbelievable knowledge and dedication to make us the best we can be. I look forward to being a part of a staff that does things the right way, and allows young men to become better basketball players and people.”
Nored is a great hire by Graves and the recent additions by South Alabama instantly give the Jaguars that Butler “way and feel.” If college basketball has learned anything over the past couple of years it’s that the Bulldogs’ system is a successful one and it’s certainly a philosophy that Graves — and now Nored — will work to instill at South Alabama.
