DePaul Blue Demons Had Two High-Scoring Players This Season

The DePaul Blue Demons were not the best team in college basketball this season to say the least. This is a team that only won 11 games in the 2012-13 college basketball season and finished in last place in the Big East. However, DePaul did have two high-scoring players on its team.

Brandon Young put up 16.7 points per game and Cleveland Melvin averaged 16.6 points per game. No other Blue Demons player scored in double digits. As you can see, these two players definitely scored their fair share of points, which really had no indications on how well DePaul did this season or I should say on how bad it did. But still, Melvin and Young put on a show every time they hit the floor.

Young also had 4.6 assists per game on the season and Melvin had 6.8 rebounds per game.

Young shot 43.8 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from behind the arc. He may have not done most of his damage from long range–only making 31 three-pointers–but he still knew how to score the basketball.

Melvin, on the other hand, shot 47.9 percent from the field.

Whether the case, the Blue Demons only won two conference games this season, which is something that clearly needs to improve. It was still nice to see these two players score at a high level all season long and was just about the only thing that DePaul fans had to look forward to.

Both players are juniors, so DePaul fans will have one more year to enjoy these two players scoring at a high rate.
