David Pellom Transferring to the Memphis Tigers

What is your favorite style of post player? Do you prefer your big man to have some brute strength, a little finesse to his game or would you rather have a random 7-feet-tall behemoth? Well, let us be honest, it is not like good frontcourt players grow on trees, so generally a team will settle for nearly any big that they come across who remotely resembles a basketball player.

Thankfully for the Memphis Tigers, they do not have to go down the recruiting path to find a big nor are they going to have to settle for a random tall guy who is not that good. NBCSports.com has reported that George Washington Colonials man-beast, David Pellom, is going to join the Memphis program next season.

This transfer coming in on the heels of losing Tarik Black as a transfer going out. Josh Pastner certainly did not want to see Black go, although scooping up Pellom may soften the blow a little bit, especially considering the Tigers are desperate for frontcourt depth.

Pollem is a 6-foot-8 senior. More importantly, he will be eligible to play right off the bat for the Tigers. Thanks to the NCAA rule which allows players who have already graduated to play right away, Pastner will be able to utilize Pellom any way he sees fit for the upcoming season.

The experienced post player missed all of last season due to a wrist injury. In his junior year, however, Pellom averaged over 10 points and six boards per outing.
