The Memphis Tigers have not been one of the worst teams in college basketball ever since losing head coach John Calipari, but they have not been considered as good. With that said, Memphis is coming back to their glory days and they will prove that in the 2013-14 college basketball season.
Memphis did win 31 games last season and earned a No. 6 seed in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. They should be even better next year, despite some key players no longer being on the team. That is because of a great recruiting class coming in that consists of one 5-star and three 4-stars. Some freshmen will definitely make an impact on this team next season.
The Tigers are starting to get some big time recruits once again, which shows that they are on the rise in college basketball.
Joe Jackson will be back next year, which is huge for this team. Jackson was the leading scorer this past season, averaging 13.6 points per game. However, he will be playing in his last season, since he will be a senior.
Calipari took Memphis to a national championship game. The Calipari era was a great time to be a Tigers fan, but Josh Pastner has done good in his own right ever since taking over as the head coach.
With a 31-5 overall record and a perfect 16-0 record in conference play, you can bet that Memphis is on the rise to be a powerhouse in college basketball and next year could be one for the history books for the Tigers.
