Mohegan Sun In the Mix for AAC Tournament Host

With the new look AAC this season, a lot of talk has arisen about possibly a new host for the AAC tournament. With the teams spread out all across the east coast, they now have a lot more availability to host sites.

Madison Square Garden has been host for years of the Big East Conference tournament. But with the new Big East, the AAC has lost the rights to having their tournament at the world’s most famous arena.

Mohegan Sun has now come out and reportedly announced that they are looking to host the AAC tournament. With teams like MemphisUConnCentral FloridaSouth Florida, Cincinnati and Temple, who are mostly old Big East schools, Mohegan Sun looks like a very good host site.

With Mohegan Sun located in Connecticut and UConn in the AAC, the tournament would most likely sell out easily. It may be a bit of a home court advantage for the Huskies, but the host site doesn’t care about that; all they want is their money.

The arena holds about 10,000 people and with that amount, it should fill up. It isn’t going to be a top tier conference tournament that everyone wants to attend, but it is still going to be a decent field and Mohegan Sun is an attractive place to visit whether or not their is a basketball tournament going on.

The American Athletic Conference needs a host for their conference tournament and Mohegan Sun is making their pitch to earn those rights.
