I need to admit a glaring problem that causes immense issues inside my cranium. Somehow, because of my inability to be sane, I suppose I often spend my days wondering about college basketball teams’ nicknames. As in, what are they, how did they come up with that, or a sense of general confusion just trots through my dome, while much more important things are going on in the world.
Alas, there is the Arizona State Sun Devils. I am not too dumb to not realize they are called Arizona State because the school is the state university of Arizona. However, I am far too idiotic to know what a Sun Devil is. Is it any different than other devils that I have heard about? Does it only exist in the sun? If it wanted to, could the Sun Devil take a trip to Alaska?
Regardless of my lack of understanding, Arizona State has a basketball program which needs players on it. Thankfully for them — and that Sun Devil of there’s — JUCO star Sai Tummala has committed to the program.
As a freshman, Tummala was named as a National Junior College Athletic Association Third Team All-American. He also scored nearly 15 points a game, while bringing down roughly six boards. All of that was done while leading something called Salt Lake City Community College to a Region 18 Championship.
According to KSL, Tummala plans to study medicine while attending ASU. I think that makes it safe to assume he is smart and could possibly fill me in as to what a Sun Devil actually is.
