The Gonzaga Bulldogs had a great 2012-13 college basketball season. As a result, they earned a No. 1 seed in the dance. However, let’s look at one of their best players in Kevin Pangos and how he could have a big junior season with the Bulldogs.
Kelly Olynyk not returning to the team will be a huge loss for the Bulldogs, but someone has to step up next year and why not Pangos?
He is clearly lethal from behind the arc, making 78 threes on the year, while shooting 41.7 percent from deep range. His 80.7 percent from the charity stripe is also a nice touch to his game.
In this past season, Pangos averaged 11.9 points per game, 2.7 rebounds per game and 3.3 assists per game. The bottom line is the fact that Pangos should get some more looks. He did already shoot the ball 9.1 times on average per game, but more looks from the three-point line will not only increase his points per game, but help out the team as well.
Pangos is such a high percentage shooter from deep range, so why not let him shoot more? It is bound to go in around four out of 10 times. If Pangos just looks for his shot more, he will be much more effective on the offensive side of the ball. He could get a little better from inside of the arc, but that is something that he should work on over the offseason. Also, getting fouled more would be huge since he is such a good free throw shooter.
It is hard to see if Pangos will have a different role next season or what that role may be for Gonzaga, but Pangos is talented enough to breakout in his junior season for the Bulldogs.
