A Look At Marquette Golden Eagles Incoming Freshmen

Losing Vander Blue will be a big hit for the Marquette Golden Eagles in the 2013-14 college basketball season, but there will be plenty of talent returning, along with an underrated recruiting class.

When talking about the best prospects in college basketball, Marquette is not usually brought into the discussion for getting the best recruits. However, the team will be getting three 4-star recruits next year. Who knows how JaJuan Johnson, Duane Wilson and Deonte Burton will be used on the team next season, but they are all talented enough to make an impact next season.

According to ESPN’s top 100 prospects, Johnson and Burton are in the top 40, while Wilson is in the top 60. You would think with how high each of those players are ranked, they would at least see the court at some point during next season.

Blue, Junior Cadougan and Trent Lockett will no longer be on the team, so there are some positions that will need to be filled.

This is a team that did not start off the season the best by getting blown out by the Florida Gators early on and losing to Butler. However, it still managed to make a run to the Elite Eight in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

The expectations will be just as high next season, and there will likely be some new faces taking the court, which could include the freshmen listed above. Wilson may not get as much playing time, but Johnson and Burton have a chance to be starters. The season is a long ways away, though, so who really knows how the incoming freshmen will be used. Still, this team will be bringing in plenty of talent for the future.
