Remember some weird rumors going around during the NCAA Tournament that had Jamie Dixon leaving the Pittsburgh Panthers for warmer weather? Yeah, well, about that, it looks like those rumors were made up in thin air by gossip-mongering know-it-alls. Dixon is still with the program, but it’s a program that has the challenge of joining a new league next season — the ACC.
Dixon has another talented team coming back for the transition into a new hoops league. However, he also knows that his backcourt could use some depth, as well as some more experience. That is why it comes as little to no surprise to anyone that former Marshall Thundering Herd guard, DeAndre Kane, will be joining the program.
There is a very good chance that Kane will be eligible to play right away for the Panthers. All Kane has to do is finish up two more classes and the guard will graduate – making him immediately eligible per the NCAA.
Kane was a terrific guard for Marshall. He scored over 15 points per game and was relied on heavily for all things Thundering Herd offense related. Although, to be fair, Kane does have the propensity to turn the ball over a little too much, something that can be attributed to having to be the workhorse for the team.
The guard will only have one year of eligibility left and is 24-years-old, meaning Dixon is getting a player who will bring some experience to the program on the court as well as off the court … well, as much life experience as a 24-year-old can bring to a slew of 20-year-olds, anyway.
