When does head coach Sean Miller not have a good recruiting class for the Arizona Wildcats? This team may not always meet expectations under Miller, but the talent he brings in cannot be denied. Arizona will have yet another good crop of freshmen coming in for the 2013-14 college basketball season, which should come at no surprise to anyone.
Aaron Gordon is a 5-star, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is a 5-star, Elliot Pitts is a 4-star and Eric Conklin is a 1-star. Sorry to throw you off with that last one, but if Miller thinks that Conklin is worthy enough to put on an Arizona uniform, then he most likely is.
Gordon is definitely the prize of the draft, though, being the No. 4 ranked recruit in the nation, according to ESPN. Although recruits that high are usually one-and-done, it also means that Gordon will likely make an instant impact for the team. However, Hollis-Jefferson is ranked No. 21 and Pitts is also a top 100 recruit.
So, the Wildcats will clearly be getting some talented players for the new season. How any of those players will impact the team is yet to be seen, but when you are a highly rated recruit, you tend to get some playing time in your freshmen season. That should be the case for both Gordon and Hollis-Jefferson. Not saying that the other two recruits won’t see some court time, but they are not as highly rated as Gordon and Hollis-Jefferson.
Whether the case, Arizona’s expectations will not skip a beat and the incoming freshmen have a lot to do with that.
