Florida Gators' Braxton Ogbueze Transferring To Charlotte 49ers

 

Florida Gators’ Braxton Ogbueze will be transferring to the Charlotte 49ers, according to Paul Biancardi of ESPN.

It’s a done deal.Braxton Ogbueze has officially transferred to #Charlotte. This is a difference maker recruit for head coach Alan Major!

Ogbueze was the only 4-star of the Gators’ 2012 recruiting class, but received very little playing time in his freshman season, with 4.7 minutes per game. He only shot the ball 22 times all season long.

Florida had a very crowded backcourt this past season and the same will be the case for the 2013-14 college basketball season. It is too bad that Ogbueze did not work out for Florida, but hopefully he can make a name for himself at Charlotte.

The 49ers finished the season with a 21-12 record and played in the NIT this past season. That is not bad at all, considering that the Atlantic 10 was one of the best conferences in college hoops this past season.

Florida was clearly a good team in its own right, making the Elite Eight, which was the third straight year in a row that the Gators pulled off that feat.

With the talent that Ogbueze has, you would imagine that he would make an instant impact with Charlotte. Not to mention, get way more minutes than just under five per game. Ogbueze definitely had the talent to succeed at Florida, but he unfortunately did not work out for the team. It would have been nice to see him receive more playing time in his freshman season, but it is what it is, and Ogbueze will now be taking his talents to Charlotte.
