The Iowa State Cyclones just barely missed out on making the Sweet 16 in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Regardless, plenty of new faces will be joining the team in the 2013-14 college basketball season, that consists of a lot of JUCO players.

According to ESPN, the Cyclones will be getting two 4-stars and four JUCO players. This is a pretty good recruiting class for a team that is not known as a powerhouse in college basketball.

Who knows how these players will impact the team next season, but you would expect that the JUCO players would do some damage, since they aren’t known to have as much eligibility left as the incoming freshmen.

Many players were seniors on this past year’s team, but there will be some returning players that will help lead the Cyclones.

Iowa State did very well in the Big 12, finishing with a conference record of 11-7, finishing just three games back in the standings and finishing in fourth place.

The Cyclones will likely not be able to compete with Oklahoma State or Kansas, but we will just have to wait and see how things play out once the season actually starts. Regardless, recruiting this many players could be a sign of good things to come for this basketball program.

Not many people talk about Iowa State as being a good hoops school, but after almost beating the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Dance, the Cyclones have definitely caught some people’s attention. It should be another exciting year for this team in the upcoming season.
