Can Kyle Wiltjer Be A Leader For Kentucky Wildcats?
Although Wiltjer will be a veteran, it may be hard for him to get playing time. It’s not like John Calipari is just going to drop him or anything like that, but there are a lot of good players next season that are going to see the court.
Wiltjer only played 23.8 minutes per game this past season. Who knows how much he will play in the upcoming season. Wiltjer was able to put up 10.2 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game. He also shot 36.7 percent from behind the arc and made 55 threes on the year.
These may not be the most impressive statistics, but with more minutes, Wiltjer would definitely shine. Who knows if he will get those minutes, though, with possibly the best recruiting class of all time coming in.
Wiltjer was apart of the national championship team from just a year ago, though, and he battled through the tough season that the Wildcats had this past year. He will also be a junior when the new season starts.
More than likely, Wiltjer is not going to lead this team in points, but he can lead them in other ways. Not to mention, as far as Kentucky can possibly make it in the NCAA tournament, Wiltjer has been there before. This is one player that doesn’t seem to get enough credit, but he was great this past season and he will be very important to the Wildcats’ success in the new one. So, I would definitely say that he could become a leader.
