South Alabama Jaguars Have Just One NCAA Tournament Victory

The South Alabama Jaguars are not the most popular team in college basketball and only having one win in the NCAA tournament probably has a lot to do with that.

The Jaguars have not won a tournament game since 1989. They did make the Big Dance in 2006 and 2008, though. With eight trips to the dance, another win has to come sooner rather than later for this team.

However, this past season was definitely not the case. South Alabama started the season off with a huge win over the Florida State Seminoles. The Jaguars would then go on to finish the season with a 17-13 record. A 14-6 conference record was pretty good, but it was still five games back in the Sun Belt-East standings. But hey, at least this team still managed to play in a postseason tourney, which was the CIT.

Who knows when South Alabama will make the tourney again, but hopefully for its sake, it will win a game the next time that it does.

Not many people probably heard of the Jaguars until this season, thanks to the upset against the Seminoles, which turned out to not be that big of an upset because we found out that Florida State was actually not that good this season. Whether the case, it was a big win at the time for this program.

Who knows if South Alabama will challenge for a conference title or make the NCAA tournament in the 2013-14 college basketball season, but it is bound to win another tourney game at some point.
