The Georgetown Hoyas were one of the best teams in the regular season during the 2012-13 college basketball season. However, one player makes a big difference for this team.
If Otto Porter Jr. would have returned, the Hoyas would most likely have been a top 10 team or even a top five team entering the 2013-14 college basketball season. The only problem is Porter Jr. decided to take his talents to the next level.

Now, who knows if Georgetown will even be ranked in the top 25 to start the season. This is still a very talented team, but Porter Jr. was by far the best player and his impact on this team was priceless.
Porter Jr. did average 16.2 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. That will be really hard for this team to make up, but it is beyond the numbers. Porter Jr. made everyone around him better and that was evident in every game this season.
Georgetown won 25 games on the year and earned a No. 2 seed in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. However, we all know how that ended for the Hoyas.
Still, Georgetown will have plenty of great players and Markel Starks will likely be the new leader of the team, at least on the court. The Hoyas will mostly look the same. However, Porter Jr. will not be back, which kind of changes everything. This team will still be good enough to dance, but more than one player is going to have to step up.
Who knows how the Hoyas will fair in the new season, but it will be interesting to see how they do without Otto Porter Jr.
