Baylor Bears Transfer Deuce Bello Will Join Missouri Tigers Next Season

Brendan Maloney-USA Today Sports

Well, it didn’t take Deuce Bello very long to make a decision for next season. The former Baylor Bears transfer will reportedly make the switch to the SEC and join the Missouri Tigers next season.

Bello, a 6-foot-4 sophomore guard, will have two years of eligibility remaining and per NCAA rules he will have to sit out the 2013-14 season. The news was first reported by Gabe DeArmond of Rivals.com:

The Tigers and head coach Frank Haith have quickly made an interesting trend of landing transfers and Bello is simply the latest to do so. Keion Bell, who came to town via Pepperdine, has no more eligiblity, but Haith and the Tigers are returning Earnest Ross and Jabari Brown next season, but of whom came to Missouri via transfer, as well.

As for Bello however, the Tigers may be picking up an untapped talent here. The sophomore wing is known for his athletic ability and he can shine in transition — two characteristics that earned him the reputation as a top 50 high school prospect prior to committing to Baylor.

Bello however, struggled with playing time and only averaged 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in less than 11 minutes of action this past season. Bello could have seen an increase in playing time in the back court this season, but now his decision to leave Baylor will leave holes in the Bears’ back court, especially considering L.J. Rose has also made the decision to leave Waco.
