2013 NBA Draft: A Look At Akron Zips’ Zeke Marshall
Zeke Marshall may not be the most talented center entering the 2013 NBA Draft, but he is definitely a good one.
Marshall had his best season for the Akron Zips—what a surprise since he was a senior—this past year, averaging 13 points per game, seven rebounds per game and 3.7 monster blocks a game.
Marshall stands at 7’0’’ and we all know how NBA teams go after those seven-footers in the draft.
He shot a very impressive 65.1 percent from the field this past season, which was way up from the season before. Marshall made some noise for the Zips in his senior year and now he even has a chance to get drafted. If there is a team searching for a center in the second round, there is a chance that that team will pull the trigger on Marshall.
Who knows if that will happen, but this past season he has shown that he can be an effective scorer. Heck, he even made two out of three shots from behind the arc. Although that is not many attempts, it is still a good note that Marshall is capable of draining from deep range.
If Marshall is drafted, it will not be for his offensive abilities, but rather for his game on the defensive side of the ball. Marshall was a force on defense this season and he swatted whatever came his way—most notably the basketball.
Time will tell if he will get drafted, but all that will take is for one team to take a chance on the big guy.
