Looking At Alabama Crimson Tide’s Incoming Freshmen

Joshua Lindsey-USA TODAY Sports

The Alabama Crimson Tide are coming off of a season where they had to settle for the NIT, but at least they were a No. 1 seed. The Crimson Tide will have a good shot at dancing in the 2013-14 college basketball season, but let’s take a look at the incoming freshmen that will be joining the team.

Alabama will be getting two 4-star recruits (Jimmie Taylor and Shannon Hale) and one JUCO (Algie Key) player. However, all three of these players are ranked in ESPN’s top 100 for the 2013 recruiting class.

We will have to wait and see how these three players will be used, whether if that will be as role players, starters or as infamous bench players.

Alabama will be losing Trevor Lacey, which is a huge loss for this team. Someone needs to step up in his absence, since he did average 11.3 points per game this past season and all. Lacey was a shooting guard, so Key could be a likely replacement for him. Key is the one JUCO player coming in, so you would expect him to get some playing time, since he does not have as much college eligibility left as the two freshmen joining the team—or that is at least usually the case with JUCO players.

There will be some talent returning to the team, so Alabama could very well make some noise in the SEC in the upcoming season. It helps that the Crimson Tide have a pretty good recruiting class coming in as well.
