Vanderbilt Commodores’ Sheldon Jeter Gets Blocked From Transferring to Pittsburgh Panthers
It is not everyday that you hear a player in college basketball getting blocked off of the court. In Vanderbilt Commodores’ Sheldon Jeter’s case, coach Kevin Stallings has decided to block Jeter from transferring to the Pittsburgh Panthers, according to Post-Gazette.
Apparently, Stallings seems like he does not want his player to go anywhere, or at least to Pittsburgh that is.
As a freshman, Jeter put up 5.5 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game in just 17.5 minutes per game. He shot 47.1 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from behind the arc, so it is no wonder why Stallings is doing this. These are great numbers and with more playing time, it would seem like Jeter would be a great player for Vanderbilt in the near future.
It will be interesting to see if the blocking actually stays in place. If it does, it would be hard to see Jeter being that motivated, since he did not even want to play for the school in the first place. That is at least what I am seeing, since Jeter was trying to transfer. Add in the fact that your school is blocking you from transferring, and there is no way that you should even want to put on that program’s uniform. However, he could still transfer to a different school, so him playing for Vandy again seems highly unlikely.
It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds, but it is not everyday that you hear this type of news. Usually, a player’s biggest worry would seem to be finding a new school, rather than that player not being able to transfer because his school will not let him/her. Whether the case, it would be great to see Jeter have success wherever he ends up.
