VCU Rams Early Favorites To Win the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off?
The VCU Rams had arguably their best regular season in school history this past year, but they are predicted to be even better in the 2013-14 college basketball season. Does this mean that VCU is the early favorites to win the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off?
First, here is a look at all of the teams in this tourney.
Puerto Rico Classic — Michigan, Georgetown, VCU, K-State, Fla. State, Charlotte, Long Beach St — completes loaded field with Northeastern.

As you can see, this tournament has great teams from top to bottom. Michigan and Georgetown may be losing some key players, along with some of the other teams on this list, but they will still compete in college hoops.
Heck, Long Beach State challenges itself every year by putting together a very hard out-of-conference schedule, hence being in this tourney. Who knows how Florida State, Northeastern or Charlotte will fair, but do not count these teams out.
With that said, the Rams could very well enter this tournament with the highest ranking. Although rankings do not mean everything, it just shows how good of a team VCU will/can be.
The Rams will be returning many players from this past year’s team and my money would definitely go on them to win this whole thing. If you thought the VCU team of last year was good, wait until you see the Rams in the upcoming season.
No matter who wins, though, the field is stacked and it should be a great tournament to help tip-off the college basketball season. Not to mention, the winner will have serious bragging rights right off of the bat.
