Winning Pac-12 Won’t Be Easy For California Golden Bears

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

With teams like the Arizona Wildcats and UCLA Bruins getting the best recruits on a yearly basis, it will not be easy for the California Golden Bears to win the Pac-12 title.

It does not help that Cal will be losing its best player for the 2013-14 college basketball season, since Allen Crabbe (18.4 PPG) has declared for the NBA draft and all.

However, it does help that the second leading scorer on the team will be back, in Justin Cobbs (15.1 PPG). There were also be a few players that scored near 10 points per game that will be back. If those players can step up, then the Golden Bears could have a pretty good year.

Arizona will be the heavy favorites in this conference entering the season and UCLA will likely be next in line. Oregon is coming off of a conference tournament title, but UNLV transfer Mike Moser will have to be huge for the Ducks to win the conference once again.

Cal finished one game back in the regular season standings and will enter the season with a lot of hype, thanks to some key returning players and a pretty good recruiting class. Still, no matter how Arizona and UCLA finish, they are usually picked to win.

Whether the case, the Golden Bears won the regular season title not too long ago and have competed in the Pac-12 as of recent. Who knows if Cal will win the conference in the upcoming season, but it will not be easy regardless.
