On Thursday morning, the USC Trojans and Dunk City-philosopher Andy Enfield received a major boost moving forward with the addition of UNLV transfer, Katin Reinhardt.
Reinhardt made a surprising move by deciding to leave the Runnin’ Rebels after just one season. It didn’t take too long for him to find a new home, but either way he’s a great addition for the future of the Trojans’ program.
During his freshman season at UNLV, Reinhardt averaged 10.1 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds in just under 30 minutes per contest. The decision to transfer obviously didn’t come do to playing time, but some reports indicate that Reinhardt wanted to be more of a ball-handler and take over the point guard duties, instead of simply being known as a spot-up shooter.
Either way, Enfield is certainly have Reinhardt, who was a former top 100 prospect coming out of high school in 2012.
In addition to losing Reinhardt, UNLV and head coach Dave Rice must replace a good chunk of talent, most notably in their front court following Mike Moser‘s decision to also transfer and Anthony Bennett‘s expectations as a top five selection in next month’s NBA Draft.
As for USC, the rebuilding process is underway for Enfield and the Trojans, and if he can give this program that same type of instant impact that he provided at Florida Gulf-Coast, well things certainly look bright in Southern California.
Reinhardt was a one-time USC commit back in high school and per NCAA rules, he will have to sit out the 2013-14 season before becoming eligible to take the court yet again.
