Xavier Musketeers' Off Season Should Only Last A Year

The Xavier Musketeers had an off season in the 2012-13 college basketball season, but that should not continue in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

It is not like Xavier was a bad team this past season, it was just not good enough to make the 2013 NCAA Tournament. This team still finished with 17 wins on the year and a 9-7 record in a very good Atlantic 10 Conference.

However, with so much talent coming back, and an intriguing recruiting class, expect the Musketeers to be a good team once again in the upcoming season.

Among those returning players is Semaj Christon, who was only a freshman this past season. He managed to lead the team with 15.2 points per game and 4.6 assists per game, and he could really make some noise next season.

It’s not like Xavier has been bad for long because that is so far from the case. This is a team that did make the Sweet 16 just a year ago and was so close to actually making the Elite Eight that season.

Xavier is a tournament team pretty much on a yearly basis, but that was obviously not the case this past season. That had a lot to do with this being a much different team and it did no longer have Tu Holloway, who was a beast in college basketball.

Well, Xavier should return back to form after one off season. This team may not be ranked to enter the year, but that does not mean that it won’t find its way in the top 25 at some point.
