No Wake Forest Demon Deacons In the ACC/Big Ten Challenge

The ACC/Big Ten Challenge has been great ever since it came into existence in college hoops. These two conferences will duke it out once again in the 2013-14 college basketball season, but the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will not be part of the action.

Wake Forest finished this past season with a 13-18 overall record and a conference record of 6-12. No wonder why it will not be playing anyone in the Big Ten.

The ACC has more teams than the Big Ten, which is an obvious reason why the Demon Deacons and a couple of other ACC teams will not be in the challenge.

Who knows how Wake Forest will finish in the upcoming season, but it has a lot of work to do before it can compete in the conference once again. Many of the Demon Deacons’ team statistics rank in the triple digits in college ball, which is never a good thing.

Although Wake Forest will not be representing the ACC, there will be plenty of great matchups to watch, which is pretty much the case every single year. However, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pittsburgh are all newcomers to the ACC and all three will be part of the excitement this year. Those three teams are usually competitive in college hoops on a yearly basis, so it will be great to see what they bring to the table for the ACC.

Other than making the NCAA tournament or just having a good season in general, maybe not being part of the challenge will give the Demon Deacons some incentive in the upcoming season. Whether the case, hopefully this team can have a much better season than this past one.
