A Big Season From Villanova Wildcats’ Ryan Arcidiacono Would Be Huge

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

The Villanova Wildcats may have lost their first game of the 2013 NCAA Tournament, but at least they still managed to dance. This team will be part of the new Big East in the upcoming season and will have a great chance to compete in the conference and make the tourney once again. However, a big season from Ryan Arcidiacono would be huge.

Arcidiacono was a freshman this past season, but that did not stop him from cracking double digits in points per game, with 11.9. He also put up 2.1 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game. Although Arcidiacono will have plenty of help, he will be very important to the team, since he is the field general.

He shot 34.3 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from behind the arc in his first season in college hoops. His 71 threes were huge and he was also big from the free-throw line, shooting 82.4 percent.

With all of that said, Arcidiacono definitely had a great season, but he has the talent to be even better in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

Villanova won 20 games on the year and it could definitely win more than that in the upcoming season. This is because the team could be even better and the new Big East won’t be as brutal as the conference has been in recent years. However, there will still be plenty of great teams at the top and this conference will have plenty of teams that will have the talent to compete for a title.

Still, if the Wildcats want to be really good this year, Arcidiacono stepping up his game even further will be huge.
