How Do North Carolina Tar Heels Match Up With Rest of ACC?
The North Carolina Tar Heels did not take the ACC by storm in the 2012-13 college basketball season or anything close to it, but they are set to have a much better year in the 2013-14 season. So, how does this team matchup with the rest of the ACC?
The Tar Heels weren’t the worst team in the conference or anything like that this past season, but finishing three games back in the conference standings and receiving a No. 8 seed in the dance is not exactly what North Carolina basketball is known for.
On that note, this team has the potential to be the best team in the ACC. Duke will be good once again, along with Virginia. Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pittsburgh joining the conference will likely make the ACC the toughest in college hoops. The Blue Devils, Tar Heels and Orange all have the talent to be top 10 teams, which will make for some very intriguing matchups in the upcoming season.
However, entering the season, North Carolina may be trailing Duke when it comes to being the favorite to win the ACC. The Tar Heels may have many of their players coming back, while the Blue Devils will be losing some great players, but North Carolina will still have to perform on the basketball court.
Some great freshmen will be joining the team, but if James Michael McAdoo, P.J. Hairston and Marcus Paige do not perform like they are capable of, North Carolina may not be a whole lot better than they were this past season. I do not suspect that to be the case, though, because this team will have some great talent and will have a chance to win the ACC title once again.
